Stages & Symptoms of Uterine Prolapse
Symptoms vary depending on the severity (Stage 1 to Stage 4) of prolapse:
- Sensation of heaviness, pulling, or fullness in the pelvis or lower abdomen
- Feeling as if sitting on a small ball or bulge in the vaginal opening
- Urinary leakage (stress incontinence) or difficulty emptying the bladder completely
- Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) and constipation strain
- Low back pain that worsens after standing or walking for long periods
Non-Surgical Ring Pessary & Exercises
For mild-to-moderate prolapse or women unfit for surgery, non-surgical management is highly effective. Dr. Aparna Kalekar performs customized ring pessary fitting (a removable device inserted into the vagina to support pelvic structures) alongside guided Kegel pelvic floor muscle therapy.
Surgical Repair & Hysterectomy Consultation
For severe prolapse causing persistent bulge or tissue ulceration, surgical options including vaginal hysterectomy with pelvic floor repair or apical mesh suspension are discussed with complete pre-operative guidance.
